Dragon Copilot for Nurses

Product Design Healthcare Epic Rover HIMSS Figma

Nurses are overwhelmed. Too many patients, too much charting, too much technology fighting for their attention during a 12-hour shift. Dragon Copilot lets them document verbally through ambient recording so they can focus on the person in front of them. The doctor version was already shipping, but nursing is harder. Doctors dictate notes after a visit. Nurses chart into structured flowsheets continuously. The accuracy bar is higher. I came in to help finish the launch and think about where the product goes next.

Runs everywhere

Dragon Copilot runs on its own app, inside Epic Rover, and on in-room devices. The team was strong. I came in with fresh eyes and helped organize things.

What else could this be?

Outside the launch work, I explored what happens if we own the in-room hardware. What about Apple Watch? Ambient glasses? What does this product look like on something other than a phone?

Voice-only in the room

Microsoft wanted this in hospital rooms, but they didn't own most of the recording hardware. So we designed a voice-only model. The nurse says a keyword, the conversation records in the background, and they get the structured notes on their device when they leave. No screen to look at, no buttons to press. Just talk to the patient.

We built this as a proof of concept for HIMSS and it became one of the main things they showed on the floor.
